Pool

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Family fun, Vacation

Last summer we took a vacation up to Mackinac Island, we had fun biking around the island itself, and then a fun carriage ride around the island. While all this was fun and relaxing, I think John and Trent had more fun playing pool back at the hotel. At first it took a while, as we couldn’t find the pool balls. Normally you would put in your quarters and the balls would pour out the opening. I headed up to the desk, only to find out that they keep the balls there, as people would walk off with them. I don’t get people when they do stuff like this.

I sat off in the corner watching them play several games, when I finally said I wanted to give it a try. I never did get the hang of actually shooting the cue ball, but had fun.

If and when we sell our house and get a bigger one, I want to get a pool table.  I can see this being lots of fun for our family!

Vacation!!!

We are on vacation this week, so no MPM this week ~ I will be winging it.

Not much is planned for the week. John needs to finish up with the gutter stuff. Trent wants to go to the pool, so that will be worked in somewhere. I think John will be taking Trent to Michigan Adventure, while I stay at home. I can’t ride the rides, so I don’t want to spend the $$ to just walk around the park.

Orlando vacation

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Vacation

A few years ago we went to Orlando for Christmas and had the best family vacation ever! There are so many things to do in Orlando. Of course there is Disney World to check out. We didn’t go this route, as the boys are older now and would have been bored.

We did go to Universal Studios and Busch Gardens. They all enjoyed the rides, me not so much. I thought getting some medicine to deal with my vertigo would help, but it only made things worse for me. But I had fun all the same.

I wish they had a Madame Tussauds wax museum, those are so much fun to go in.  We did find a haunted house that freaked me out!   The boys loved it, even tho I think Christopher got a little scared in a spot or two.

We went mini golfing on Christmas, and had a great time in short sleeves! If we were back home, we would be bundled up in layers!

In Jamaica. This is where Christopher is right now. He saved up his money to go on vacation with his best friend and his family. This is the second time he has been to Jamaica. I am so jealous! He has text messaged me a few times since he has arrived, first to tell me that they arrived at 5 yesterday, and it rained the rest of the day, (which I had to laugh at, just a little). Then to see if I would check with Verizon to see if he was able to text while there, as he can’t make any calls, due to the roaming, and didn’t want to rack up a huge bill. I told him he didn’t need to text, as he was on vacation.

I am hoping he gets some nice pictures of the sunsets like this one

But of course, he will probably have nothing but pictures of girls.  You know how a 20 year old male’s mind thinks.  LOL.

One of these days I will get my chance to go to some tropical island.

San Francisco

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Vacation

Do you need some vacation ideas or some place romantic to go to for your anniversary? Why not check out San Francisco. John and I went there for our anniversary a few years ago and had the best time! We took a drive along the coast on Highway 1, on one of the nights we were there, and just enjoyed the scenery on the winding road. It was beautiful, but the drive back was a little nerve wracking, as the fog had rolled in. We drove across the Golden Gate bridge, then went for a walk across it which was really cool. Which led us to our next adventure of the day at Muir Woods to check out the Redwood Forest. The trees there are so huge! Most of the trees were 370 feet tall with diameters of 22 feet with 12 inch thick bark, amazing! We did some hiking while we were there as well.

On this trip I finally got to meet my pen pal of 15 years! What a time we had! We headed out to Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 and checked out all the shops and enjoyed all the yummy smells! Our final stop of the day was at the wonderful chocolate shop of Ghiradeli’s, oh my, chocolate heaven! We did lots of walking that day, so at the end of our day we all chipped in and rented a limo to take us back to the subway so we could head back to our hotel.

I want to go…

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Vacation

…to Vegas one of these days, not so much for the gambling, as I don’t like to part with my money. I have been checking on prices for Vegas hotels. I would like to check out some shows and do some sight seeing. I was out there over 20 years ago, but just for a very short visit. I wonder if I could convince John into taking a mini vacation for our anniversary that’s coming up in March. We need some time away just the two of us.

Vaction tours…

I would love to go back to San Francisco, we had such a wonderful time there a few years back. This time I think we would see about getting a San Francisco tours package. We had went out to visit my sister and her family. I also finally got to meet my pen pal of many years! We went to Fisherman’s Wharf with her and her daughters. We checked out Pier 39 and of course we had to make a stop at the Ghirardelli chocolate store. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Then took a limo ride back to where the train was to get us back to our cars. The girls loved it!!

We went and checked out the Redwoods, and did some hiking. God did some wonderful work in all the beauty we saw on that hike!! But I think the best memory of all was when John and I hopped in our rental car and took a drive along the coast.

Making plans for our vacation

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Vacation

I have been wanting to go to New York City for some time now, and it is finally going to happen this summer! We all have our list of places we want to go and see. On the top of my list is to see Ground Zero. We will be looking for some Cheap Hotels to stay at so we can have more money to spend on other activities. There are so many things to see and do in this marvelous city! There is a Spring Festival we could take in if we want. I would like to go see a broadway musical or play while there, if I can talk my guys into it.

The Statue of Liberty is a must as well. Standing 151 feet above New York Harbor since 1886, the ferry brings you to her feet on Liberty Island. If you want to climb the 354 step narrow winding staircase inside the Statue you have to get there early. If the lines are long, it can mean a 3-hour ascent.

Central Park is on my list as well. The guys want to stop by one of the baseball fields. The one spot Trent wants to go to for sure is the Pokemon store. What fun that will be. Times Square is a must as well.

There is just so much to see in this city, that I know I will want to plan our next trip as soon as we get home!

Back from vacation

We decided to go up to Mackinac Island for a few days. Tuesday we got up there and did all the touristy stuff on the mainland in the lower peninsula, had some dinner then headed across the bridge to the UP. We had to stop at the Mystery Spot. This is a cool place, but it messed with my vertigo, and had me off balance for a while afterwords.

On Wednesday we spent the day on the island, riding bikes (8 miles around the whole island, go me!), checking out the shops, and then a nice carriage ride around the island.

Vacation!

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Vacation

Less than a half hour an my vacation will begin!! Yay!! We don’t have much planned as it took forever to find out if my hubby got the week off. Trent wants to go camping, but camping and I don’t see eye to eye. We have a kid free weekend to start our vacation. Trent is at grandma’s for the weekend. They have a Potter party to go to tonight and have other things planned for the weekend. John and are going to the Ionia Free Fair, something the two of us haven’t done yet together.

Everyone have a great week! I am going to miss out on how I met my hubby with Annie’s Time Traveler Tuesday meme. I will have to do a blog entry of that a little later on.

Be blessed!
