Hope you are having a great day with the one you love!

2010

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Holidays

So many things are going to be happening this year. We are hoping to sell our house. John still wants to put in a new kitchen counter, that may happen. The city is doing some work on the sewer system in our area. Our corner has a “tentative” ticket on it, this has caused the gas and phone companies to come out and stake out our yard with lots of little flags.

Trent will be turning 15, and that means he will start drivers training. This means I need to start checking out auto insurance quotes. I am hoping that our insurance company will offer a great discount like they did back when Christopher starting driving.

Job changes are in the works, and hopefully I will be able to be a 100% full time stay at home mom! If this happens, I am hoping that the “guilty feelings” don’t set in, with me being home and not working and leaving all the financial stress on my hubby.

Happy 2010!

2009 coming to an end

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Holidays

WoW! This year has flown on by! Many changes, some good, some bad, but we are thankful that we both still have jobs. Work was done on the house and cars. New furniture for the living room, new flooring in the kitchen and lots of work done on Christopher’s car, hopefully he won’t have to look into mechanical breakdown insurance.

Trent graduated from the 8th grade in Spring and started his first year of high school this fall. That in itself was big, but not as big as the change of going to a whole new school district and making all new friends. He is adjusting well.

I met two of my bloggy friends over the summer and had a great time with them. Took a couple road trips, one to Chicago with a few friends, and then to Ohio with Robyn, after finding out her brother inlaw had to have open heart surgery.

We had a long summer of the unknown with my father inlaw. We still have no real answers to why he was so sick, and may never know. He is still slowly recovering, but we are thankful he is still with us.

Christmas Day

What a day! I am glad things are winding down. Trent was up around 6ish, he keeps trying to say he was up at 5. I know he wasn’t as I got up at 5:20 to feed the cat. I finally went downstairs around 8, got the coffee started, browsed the net for a bit, then started to hear the other two waking up. Presents were all unwrapped by 9. I made breakfast for the guys, of scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, orange slices and orange juice. Showers were taken, bags were packed, and off we went to grandma’s house.

Dinner was good, ham sandwiches, tater salad, macaroni salad, and beans. Clean up, then presents. I love, Love, LOVE my gift from my MIL… my Edward blanket, pillow and bag! My SIL gave me a pic of a garden that she took in New York, that I said would look really cool in black and white. She also made my MIL cry with the gift she gave to both her and Gramps. She drew a picture of their cat (who is dieing). Another drawing she did was of my hubby with his guitar (I still need to take a pic of it).

We were then blessed with my FIL playing the according (I give him a hard time about not liking it). It was so good to hear him play, as he has not had he strength/energy to play since he got so sick this past April. None of us thought we would ever hear him play again.

I am ready for bed, and am so glad I am on vacation until next year!

Snow Day

Winter has dumped on us again. We didn’t get as much as last week, but its a heavy wet snow, with showers/freezing rain that has started as I type. Shoveling is the best best fat burner as it was so slushy and very heavy to try and throw. Got my work out in this morning already! Later today it will turn into snow showers, with a nasty storm. Thankfully the schools are closed, but that means I have 2 extra kids for the day; one being my own, he finished his last book from the library last night, so that means he will be “bored” and want my laptop. Nope! He can get on the desktop.

I plan on starting my holiday baking today. Have stuff to make cookies; chocolate chip and peanut blossoms. I will also be making several mini banana bread loaves and then will freeze them until Christmas.

My wish list

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Holidays

Hubby was asking me what I wanted for Christmas the other day, via email. I told him I didn’t need anything and left it at that. I get the next email saying “that’s not acceptable”, I responded with “well that’s what you say to me”, his response was “that’s different”. Men! So this is my wish list:

1. wide angle lens
2. Samsung HDTV
3. camcorder
4. photo shop software
5. Biggest Loser Wii game
6. Shapeworks Wii game

He just laughed as I have quite a few big tickets items on my list. What can I say, I like expensive things! Now do I expect him to go out and buy these…. NO, its not in our budget right now. I will be happy with the Wii games or the photo shop software, or even a nice sweater. The others will have to wait until tax time when we have the extra money.

Weekend update

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Family Life, Holidays

The end of my long four day weekend is coming to an end. It has been really nice. To sleep in was heaven! Thursday was Thanksgiving, we spent the day over at John’s parents house. Lots of good food and quality family time was had by all. The boys played card games with grandma, then rocked it out on the Wii.

Friday I ventured out with Robyn to do some shopping, not at the butt crack of dawn either! That’s not me! I got everything I had set out to get. I now only have to shop for my hubby and my Christmas shopping will be done. I should look at tv stands so we can use Christopher’s flat screen TV for a while. Thinking that when the time comes for when he moves out, I can the go buy our own flat screen TV! Once I got home from shopping I started my 2nd turkey dinner, I wanted to have lots of leftovers! John went over to a friends house to jam for a while. I made some progress on a knitting project.

Saturday ~ we were going to go see Blind Side, but decided to do that today. So Saturday was a lazy kind of day. I camped out in my pj’s for the day! So nice!

Today ~ I made a huge breakfast to fill us up so we wouldn’t have to spend an arm and a leg at the concession stand at the movies. Blind Side is an excellent movie! This will be another movie that will be added to my collection for sure!

Now I am working on some blog stuff, then will be curled up with the knitting project and a book for the night… well until The Amazing Race starts.

Back to work on Monday ~ oh Joy!
