New job

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Family Life

The new job is getting closer for my hubby. He has one week left at his former employer. I am on pins and needles, as there are still a few things they need to hash out, and with them being guys, they will wait until the last minute. I finally got him to remember the application, now to get it filled out and turned in, so the reimbursement can happen!

They are working on a website, and looking at some promotional items to help promote the business. Lots of late nights have already taken place, with more in the future I am guessing. Just waiting to see if he will be late this Tuesday, and then ruin out weekend plans as well. If it does happen, he may not see another 14 years! I am not going to be the one to remind him either, he is on his own for this one.

Where are they?

Where are all of the jobs? So many are still out of work here in Michigan. Its scary! I am so very thankful my hubby still has one, as well as myself. Christopher’s job is still ok, and has been offered a manager position in one of the other stores. He is still on the fence as to whether he will take it or not. He doesn’t know if he wants the added responsibility. I think it would be a great opportunity for him! It would help him even more save up and possible get his own place! I want to turn his bedroom into my craft room again!

Lonely night

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Family Life

Thought I was going to get the house to myself tonight. Trent had gone out to dinner with a family friend from church, and possibly going rock climbing. Christopher is still working, and John has headed out to do some work for the night.

I was going to curl up with a book and a drink until whoever got home first. That was short lived, as just as I was getting ready to make the drink Trent walked in the door. The rock climbing fell through for this week. They had went to Subway… of all the places he could pick, he chose that. Heck if I knew someone was footing the bill, I would have picked something different! But he loves Subway, so much that I should look into starting my own franchise. Ha!

I am up in my room, as he wants to play some Rockband. I am surfing the net, have a kitty cat on my lap and the boob tube one. Just killing time until the Biggest Loser starts. Hopefully John won’t be late tonight, as I haven’t seen much of him in the last week or so.

Weekend in Review

Weekend rewind. If you want to play along, grab the above button and tell me all about your weekend!

Friday ~ Taxes were deposited! Shopping spree anyone? I would have loved to, but the majority will be going into savings! I did pay all of our bills that we have for the month thus far. What a good feeling that is! I headed out to Wally World to order my new glasses, and bought John a coffee pot.

I headed out to Zeeland to get my hair cut! Its been a long 5.5 months since my last one! So glad that Stephanie’s maternity leave is over with! (no she didn’t take a 5 month leave, I just couldn’t find the time to get in before she had her daughter). I went with a shorter version of my previous cut, and while I was so very hesitant in doing this, I did it!

Headed for home, to see if my hubby was home yet, grabbed a bite to eat, then over to Robyn’s for a little while, so her and Erica could see my haircut.

Saturday ~ John headed out early yet again, to mark the 5th long day of work. My MIL called to let us know that John’s Uncle Larry passed away. There will be no viewing, as he requested none. The family will have a celebration later on, but no date has been set. I colored my hair, got the ribs going in the crock pot, then got Trent up so he could shower early and headed out to Wally World, yet again, as he needed a new pair of glasses as well (his got broken in his back pack). He wants contacts, but that will have to wait until this summer, after he shows he can be responsible for this 2nd pair. Then off to his drum lessons. Home again, made some banana muffins and banana bread for the week, then vegged for the day until John got home. He and Trent got out Rockband and jammed in the living room, while I camped out in my bedroom watching a marathon of “What Not To Wear”.

Sunday ~ Off to church, had a good service. Tried to get ahold of John’s parents, but no luck. Whipped up some lunch, then John and I went to Kohl’s to get him some jeans and me a belt. The rest of the day has been lots of vegging.

What did you do this weekend? Let me know if you play along!

Renewing Vows

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Family Life

John and I are going to be celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary next week. Not sure what we are going to do, or where we will be going. I have told him for our 15th, I want to go away and possibly renew our vows, just the two of us. There will be no wedding invitations to send out, and no one telling us what or how to do things!

I want to go somewhere tropical, and renew them on the beach, with the sun setting in the background. How romantic!! Of course, he’s no help, as he could care less. He will then just have to put up with how I plan things out. I have started our “anniversary get away funds”, and will be adding to it every week, so by this time next year we will be all set!

House shopping

I am back to looking at houses again. I found a really nice one, had everything I want, air, 2 bathrooms, fireplace, and a 2 stall garage. The other thing that is so cool, it has an awesome gazebo, and an outdoor fireplace! How cool is that!?! On those cool summer night, (fall/spring too), it would be so comforting to throw on some logs, and sit in the backyard around a fire, while watching the sun go down.

Now if only our house was sold! I should have waiting on looking for houses, but when you are sitting at home waiting for your hubby to get home, your fingers get the better of you and start searching the internet. I should be reading or outside enjoying the sunshine.

I think I will drag Trent out to one of the nature parks and take some photos. I need to get more practice in!

What a week!

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Family Life

This has been one weird week. My menu for the week flew out the window! John has had an interesting week. I haven’t seen much of him either. Hopefully next week will be a little better! I don’t have to buy much in groceries, but will still spend at least $100 at Family Fare, as they have a promotion of spending that much, so you can get up to 20 gallons of gas for $1.99 per gallon. I will be getting items to stock up my pantry. So wish I had a small freezer so I could buy in bulk! Maybe one day soon!

On the agenda for the weekend. Tomorrow working until 4:30, then heading out to Zeeland for a haircut and eyebrow wax. John will be out late, yet again.

Saturday ~ I am hoping I can make the Women’s ministry event, but not sure, I may have to take Trent to drum lessons.

Sunday ~ church, then probably home to veg. I have a feeling John will be very tired. Heck I will.. as there is nothing better than a nice Sunday afternoon nap!

Internet lessons

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Family Life

I so need to teach my mother in law how to use the internet! Just got off the phone with her, and the talk was all about pond filters. She is wanting to put in a little fish pond, and asked me to look some things up online. Not sure why she didn’t ask my father in law to look stuff up, but whatever.

One way or another I am going to get my mother in law addicted to the computer!  She needs to get over her fear of the computer.  Her and my sister in law drive me crazy sometimes!

Wouldn’t it be fun??

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Family Life

Ok, so I had this thought go through my head. Wouldn’t it be fun to be able to register for anniversaries? You know like for baby showers and weddings? Grabbing one of those barcode scanners and making out your wish list for items? There are quite a few things I would like to have, but the finances aren’t there.

I know wishful thinking! Our anniversary is coming up in a few weeks. Trying to plan something for for us to do over the weekend. Hoping our taxes will be deposited like we have been told, then I can plan for a night away. Spend some quality time with my hubby and maybe do a little shopping.

If you could register for fun things, what would be on your list?

Burning a hole in his pocket

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Family Life

I have to laugh at Christopher. He has his taxes back, and I know that money is burning a hole in his pocket! He has been looking at the sale ads for laptop computers, he wants one really bad. He is tired of having to ask one of us to sign on the computer just to use it.

Some say we are mean in doing this, but hey its our computers, and he has abused it in the past. I don’t like to log on and see the disgusting sites he “accidentally” goes to. Accidentally, my butt!    There have been nights that one of us forget to lock the desk top down, only to find that he has gotten on when he gets home in the wee hours.

We shall see if he really parts with this money and buys himself one.
