Check out the first scraptastic January contest, over at Love, Life, Family’s blog, this is what she has to say about the first contest:

So, for this first contest, post a couple of your favorite shots from the Holidays and discuss what special memories go along with them. Please also post a link back to the contest (or use the banner or button, which links back automatically) and tell your friends not to miss out. The (2) winners will be chosen randomly and announced sometime on Friday January 4th.

My two photos… I love this one of my family and my brother’s family in front of our tree. This year we were supposed to go to their house to celebrate Christmas, but at the last minute, we were asked if we could do it at our house instead. We deep fried a turkey and stuffed ourselves will lots of good eats!

And then this photo of my kitty. She loves to sit under our tree. She looks so angelic…LOL

Christmas with my brother

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Christmas, Family

Today we had my brother/sister in law/nieces over to celebrate Christmas. We had a great time. We deep fried a turkey and had all the trimmings. Then it was present time. The kids loved their gifts, with promises of Aunt Jodi taking themt to the mall to redeem them! For Hannah I got her a gift card to Libby Lu’s and Abby a gift card to the mall, little Ellie got a cute doll and an outfit, Trent got a mini digital camera and Christopher got some cologne.

Here we all are

Are you ready…

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Christmas, music

…for Christmas? I am done with my shopping, everything is wrapped. All I need to do is my baking. I am cheating on some of the cookies, as I have bought pre-made cut out cookies, all I have to do is bake them. I just don’t have the time to do it the old fashioned way. Next on my list is to make some Peanut Butter Temptations, these are so yummy!

I am looking forward to the next few weeks, as I have (3) - 4 day weekends coming up!! Yay! Of course 2 of these weekends include the holidays, but the 3rd one I get a whole day to myself with the boys at school and the hubby at work!! I can’t wait!!

Date nights!! I love having them! Tonight my sweetie and I went out to dinner. We went to the Beltline Bar.. Yum-O! We enjoyed our dinner then off the the Hobby Shop, for him to drool over all the models and telescopes, then onto Family Christian Bookstore. He found a worship CD and I found a book to help deepen my walk with Christ. I plan on starting this the first of Jan, my New Years resolution.

A few of my favorite ornaments:

This one is from my inlaws ~ the top animals are opossums ~ she saw that and had to get it.
There is a running joke between me and my Father in law about opossums.

This one I made way back in 4th or 5th grade at one of my Camp Fire Girls meeting.

This one my mother in law gave me last year ~ so nice to know that my mother in law loves me like a daughter!

Some of the cookies that will be made for our holiday celebrations this year… Yum!

Peanut Butter Temptations

About 40 mini peanut butter cups

½ cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened

½ cup sugar

½ cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup peanut butter

1 egg

½ tsp vanilla

1 ½ cup flour

¾ tsp baking soda

½ salt

Heat oven to 375. Remove wrappers from candies. Line small muffin pan with liners. Beat butter, both sugars, peanut butter, egg and vanilla until fluffy in large bowl. Stir together flour, salt and baking soda; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Shape dough into 1 inch balls, place one in each muffin cup. DO NOT flatten. Bake 10-12 minutes, or until puffed and lightly browned; remove from oven. Immediately press candy into center of each cookie.

Makes about 3 ½ dozen.

Dear Santa…

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Christmas

I had to share this….

Dear Santa

I’ve been a good mom all year. I’ve fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor’s office more than my doctor and sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son’s red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I’ll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes:

I’d like a pair of legs that don’t ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don’t hurt or flap in the breeze, but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store.

I’d also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.

If you’re hauling big ticket items this year I’d like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music, a television that doesn’t broadcast any programs containing talking animals, and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.

On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, “Yes, Mommy” to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don’t fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.

I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting “Don’t eat in the living room” and “Take your hands off your brother,” because my voice seems to be just out of my children’s hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.

If it’s too late to find any of these products, I’d settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.

If you don’t mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.

Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is calling and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back. Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don’t catch cold.

Help yourself to cookies on the table but don’t eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.

Yours Always,

MOM…

P.S. One more thing…you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children young enough to believe in Santa.
