Basketball woes

Tryouts for basketball were this week. Trent has been practicing for some time now, as he really wanted to make the team. Monday was the first round of tryouts. He was non stop talk about everything they did in practice. Yesterday was the 2nd round, I arrived at school to pick him up, only to see him walking slowly towards the truck. Instantly my heart sank. He gets in the truck and says he didn’t make it. I was on the phone with a friend so I told her I would call her back later. I knew my hubby was working late, so I decided to take Trent out for dinner (well through the drive through *wink*). He wanted Wendy’s. We got home, he eats, does his homework and then heads up to his room. I told him we would be carving pumpkins later, he says “Whatever” and continued on his way.

I hate when my kids are sad. I just want to make things better for them. I wish they would have a team for each grade instead of a A and B team, then none of the kids would have been cut. They whole reason they cut is because they only have 40 uniforms. This year 55 kids tried out.

We did get Trent to come down to carve the pumpkins, and got him laughing so at least he went to bed in a happier mood last night.

Hugs to Trent That’s to bad each grade doesn’t have their own team.. I’ve never heard of that before. Of course I suppose things have changed since I went to school. ;)

Oh, I hate that too. He’ll be fine in a bit but it’s a horrible thing to go through (especially for a mom).

Oh, that is so hard. It is worst when it’s something we have no control over.

This totally is breaking my heart. Honestly I have tears in my eyes.. My princess is very very athletic and plays travel ball in almost every sport she plays in and makes the teams, every team she has ever tried out for. But then she is a girl, not to take anything away from her but I think as a boy it would be harder to make teams because of the pure number of boys into sports. and I worry about my Mr Man who is still young for try out sports yet, but I still worry for him when he is at the age of trying out for stuff he has his heart set on playing. I wish they could do something to let anyone who wants to play play.. My DH has even mentioned moving or driving the kids to a smaller town near us so there is a much better chance of making the Jr High and high school teams when the kids are older.
    Big (((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) to Trent.

BTW.. I put up a part two to my time travel tuesday post to answer some of the questions I was getting in the comment section.

    KC’s last blog post..Your A Treat.
