timetravelers.pngThis week its about “honey we’re having a baby” edition. ? Annie says:

How did you find out you were pregnant, how did you share the news with your hubbie… how did you tell your family?

Come travel back to the day you found out you were pregnant and share it with the group!

You can view more Time Travels over at Annie’s blog.

A few weeks ago we shared our birth stories I shared how I found out I was pregnant with my oldest, here. I was single and 19, and still at home. I was scared to death to tell my dad, and all for nothing he doting on me for the remainder of the short lived pregnancy.

Now onto Trent. I was working at a Drs office, when things got a little ugly in the office, we all had worked our normal morning shift, and was just coming back from lunch, only to find the Dr gone and one of his colleagues in the office. We just went about our business as usual and were just about to open the office back up when he came up front and said, you don’t need to do that, we have cancelled all of the afternoon appointments, and proceeded to call us back one by one to let us know that we were being let go. Talk about shocked! At the time I was getting the Depo shot for my birth control, I have a few weeks to go before my next shot, but had to find a new Dr, as the one I worked for was the one I got it from. Well… with all the pressure and stress of trying to find a job this slipped my mind. By now its into September (1995) when I realized I never got the shot the previous month. I went and took a test and sure enough I’m pregnant. I waited for my boyfriend (then, now hubby) to get home from work to tell him. He didn’t say to much at first, but then was excited. I finally found a job, told them up front I was pregnant. Now onto the parents… My parents didn’t say to much, but my future inlaws.. well…

I had orginally told his sister to figure out how his parents would react. She slipped while at a baby shower with her mom, saying something like oh, John/Jodi could really use something like that. Her mom looked at her and said “What?”. So that is how she found out, but she didn’t let on to us that she knew for a while. On one of our Sunday dinner visits, we were getting ready to head for home, when she says “Wait, I have some thing for you guys.” and goes to her room and comes back out with this HUGE baby gift bag of stuff. John looked at me like “What did you say?”, I shrugged and mouthed “I didn’t say a word”. She pipes up with “stop, Pauline let it slip and I have been shopping like crazy for the last few weeks”. She was so excited, started pulling things out of the bag. And then says, next weekend we will go shopping for maternity clothes for you and a carseat. We were speechless. John wanted to know what his dad thought, she said well go downstairs and find out. So he did, only to find him down there with more baby stuff. It was such a nice surprise. They were both so happy.

I got teary-eyed with that. That is just the sweetest thing that your inlaws were so supportive and happy! Now, I’m gonna go back to read your link to your oldest.

Oh and you may want to edit your post because I think you accidently copied from last week “This week its all your 21st bday.” Shhh…I won’t tell!

That is really nice! So glad it worked out.

I was living in MI away from my family for the first time in my life @ 26 yrs. when I found out I was pregnant. I knew it though. We were trying and it worked the first month! I had it all planned out. I just got a job at Kiser Streeter Assoc. in downtown GR so I didn’t tell them, I just took the job. Not very honest but I was afraid they’d say forget it. I had Evan in April and moved in November to PA.
