Join Us For Tackle It Tuesday

We’re making housework blog-able!

Each week on Tuesday, we are posting before and after pictures of a project or trouble area that we tackled this week.

Find out more about Tackle It Tuesday’s here at 5 Minutes for Mom

The project can be little or big – whatever you want. Basically, Tackle It Tuesday is about giving ourselves incentive, deadlines and satisfaction in getting our household tasks done.

This week I am tackling my bookcase. It is overflowing of books and photo albums. We tried to move it a little bit a few weeks ago, so we could plug in the air conditioner and the bottom panel cracked. Too much weight on this bookcase I am thinking.

Before

After
Three of the shelves had double rows of books, and now are just a single row of books. I now have 3 large grocery bags full of books I no longer have a use for, time to donate or giveaway

Time Travel Tuesday

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Time Travel Tuesday

This week its all about your date gone wrong. From Annie ” You know I like to keep things positive right? Well, for this week’s time travel tuesday we are going back to a date gone wrong… with husband or before marriage it’s your choice. I think it is healing to find humor in bad situations. “

A date gone wrong. I had to do some thinking on this one, but I remembered one. This went back some years ago.

I was waiting for my boyfriend to meet me at my work so we could head out to an wedding reception. I had been looking forward to this wedding for some time and he knew this. He no showed, I was furious. This wasn’t the first time, but it would be the last. I called his house, where his mom told me that he had gone camping with his brothers, even tho she reminded him about the wedding. This was the last straw for me and him. I was tired of being put off by him. I told his mom that she could tell him when he got back that I was done, and that he knew where he could find me to get his class ring.

To this day I still have his class ring. I am so glad that this had happened, because if I would have stayed with him I wouldn’t be in the place I am in today.

Married 4 Life

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Married 4 Life

John and I have signed up for the Married 4 Life progam over at Winning at Home with Dan Seaborn.

From the get go divorce was not going to be an option for either of us. We are committed for life. Sure we have struggles, but we work through them and lean on God for our strength.

So if you are committed to your marriage 100%, then head on over and join the M4L and be part of 1 millions couples that are married 4 life!

This was posted on the mom board I co own, that I thought fit well with this post:

The ring finger

Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger? There is a beautiful and convincing explanation given by the Chinese..

The Thumb represents your Parents.

Second (Index) finger represents your Siblings.

Middle finger represents your-Self .

Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner.

And the Last (Little) finger represents your children.

First, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together - back to back.

Second, open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb - tip to tip

Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)…they will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later.

Please join your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings)…they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives.

Now join the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children)… they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day.

Finally, join your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse). You will be surprised to see that you just cannot…..because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick and thin!!

Please try this out………….
ISN’T THIS A LOVELY THEORY?

Appetizer
Describe a toy you remember from your childhood. Baby Tender Love, this was one of my favorite dolls. You could feed her and take her in the tub.

Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how observant are you? Probably a 8

Salad
Where would you rather be at this very moment? Back in bed sound asleep!

Main Course
When was the last time you learned something new? I learn new things every day.

Dessert
Fill in the blank: I have boys but I haven’t any girls.

Come feast with others over at Friday Feast

Back from vacation

Posted by: Jodi  :  Category: Vacation

We decided to go up to Mackinac Island for a few days. Tuesday we got up there and did all the touristy stuff on the mainland in the lower peninsula, had some dinner then headed across the bridge to the UP. We had to stop at the Mystery Spot. This is a cool place, but it messed with my vertigo, and had me off balance for a while afterwords.

On Wednesday we spent the day on the island, riding bikes (8 miles around the whole island, go me!), checking out the shops, and then a nice carriage ride around the island.
